(SB ~85) Forty-one years of progress in North Dakota have rendered these laws senseless and useless, Ohly one of these antiquated acts affects North Dakotans today. The Surplus Brakeman law--which not only wastes thousands of dollars annually, but labels the state as one still operating in the "horse and buggy" days. North Dakota is the only state in the Midwest with a Surplus Brakeman law. In 1959, your modem State I cgislatur~ repealed this old-fashioned act as unjust and unfair. The Legis- lature's decision has bccn referred to the voters giving you an opportunity to vote "YES" to uphold your State Legislature.
